Combat Basics

Combat in Kroda is about placing cards, rolling dice, and choosing when to commit.

At the start of combat:

  • draw 4 cards

At the start of each later turn:

  • draw 1 card

Core rules:

  • cards are free to place
  • energy is spent on rolling dice
  • cards stay in your hand unless something consumes, returns, or creates them
  • there is no normal discard loop during combat
  • sustain must be earned by your build

This is the gamble line.

  • procced cards are consumed
  • failed cards can remain on the board
  • best for delayed setup and BothMatch payoffs
  • this is where long combo chains usually start

This is the precision line.

  • you get information before placing
  • placed cards are consumed whether they hit or miss
  • best for careful, exact turns
  • best for EitherMatch, SymbolOnly, NumberOnly, and exact control cards

BothMatch is mainly a gamble payoff, so it usually wants the place-first line or support that preserves setup.

If you placed at least one card and did not manually roll:

  • both dice roll automatically at end of turn

If you manually rolled:

  • there is no end-of-turn auto-roll
