Combat Basics
Combat in Kroda is about placing cards, rolling dice, and choosing when to commit.
Your turn
Section titled “Your turn”At the start of combat:
- draw
4cards
At the start of each later turn:
- draw
1card
Core rules:
- cards are free to place
- energy is spent on rolling dice
- cards stay in your hand unless something consumes, returns, or creates them
- there is no normal discard loop during combat
- sustain must be earned by your build
Two play styles
Section titled “Two play styles”Place first
Section titled “Place first”This is the gamble line.
- procced cards are consumed
- failed cards can remain on the board
- best for delayed setup and
BothMatchpayoffs - this is where long combo chains usually start
Roll first
Section titled “Roll first”This is the precision line.
- you get information before placing
- placed cards are consumed whether they hit or miss
- best for careful, exact turns
- best for
EitherMatch,SymbolOnly,NumberOnly, and exact control cards
BothMatch is mainly a gamble payoff, so it usually wants the place-first line or support that preserves setup.
End of turn auto-roll
Section titled “End of turn auto-roll”If you placed at least one card and did not manually roll:
- both dice roll automatically at end of turn
If you manually rolled:
- there is no end-of-turn auto-roll
